Next time there’s a party, make sure to have a variety of snacks on hand. These snack mixes can be made in advance and sealed in an airtight container. They’re ideal for a large football party crowd or a small, intimate gathering.
Savory Cereal Snack Mix
Ingredients
6 cups of square cereal (all the same flavor or mix and match corn, rice and wheat)
1 cup of nuts (peanuts, pecans or mixed nuts)
1 cup of pretzels
1 cup of miniature bagel chips
1/2 cup of butter or margarine
1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon of garlic salt
1 teaspoon of seasoning salt
Directions:
Melt butter in a large pan.
Mix the Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and seasoning salts into the butter.
Pour the cereal, nuts, pretzels and bagel chips into the sauce mix.
Stir well until the cereal is evenly coated.
Bake in 250 degree oven for approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
Pour onto paper towels and cool.
Store the mix in an airtight container.
Ranch and Cheese Cereal Snack Mix
Ingredients
6 cups of square cereal (all the same flavor or mix and match corn, rice and wheat)
1 cup of pretzels
1 cup small cheese crackers
1 cup of miniature bagel chips
1 package of ranch dressing mix
1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup of butter or margarine
Directions:
Melt butter in a large pan.
Mix the ranch dressing and parmesan cheese into the butter.
Pour the cereal, pretzels, crackers and bagel chips into the sauce mix until evenly coated.
Bake in 275 degree oven for approximately 30-45 minutes.
Remove from oven and pour onto large surface to cool.
Store in an airtight container.
Chocolate Lovers Cereal Snack Mix
Ingredients
6 cups of square cereal (all the same flavor or mix and match corn, rice and wheat)
1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup of peanut butter
1/4 cup of butter or margarine
1 tablespoon of vanilla
1 cup of peanuts
1 cup of powdered sugar
(Optional) 1 cup of dried fruit
Directions:
Pour cereal into a large mixing bowl.
Mix the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in a bowl and microwave on high for approximately 45 seconds.
Remove from microwave and stir, then microwave another 45 seconds.
Add vanilla and stir until smooth.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir until evenly coated.
Sprinkle powdered sugar over the coated cereal and toss until all the cereal is covered in sugar.
Add peanuts and optional dried fruit to the mixture.
Pour onto wax paper on a flat surface to cool.
Store in an airtight container and refrigerate.
Asian Curry Fusion Snack Mix
Ingredients
1 package of unsalted rice cakes
2 cups of square cereal
1 cup of pretzels
1 cup of dried edamame peas
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 tablespoon of curry powder
(Optional) 1 small can of chow mein noodles
Directions:
Break up rice cakes and put into a mixing bowl with cereal and pretzels.
Melt the butter and stir in the curry powder.
Pour the curry mixture over the rice cakes, cereal, pretzels, chow mein noodles and edamame peas and stir until evenly coated.
Spread evenly onto a baking sheet.
Bake at 275 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.
Cool and store in an airtight container.
