Recipes for Witches Brew, Devilish Eggs, Wormy Apples and Severed Finger Cookies.

Every Halloween party needs food and drink to suit the occasion. Below are fun, fast and easy-to-create recipes for spooky and delicious Halloween treats that are sure to be enjoyed by everybody.

Witches Brew Punch

Ingredients

  • 20 cups water
  • 1 large can frozen limeade
  • 1 large can frozen lemonade
  • 1 package lemon-lime kool-aid & 1 cup sugar (or 1 package pre-sweetened lemon-lime kool-aid)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 large bottle of ginger ale
  • Crushed ice

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large punch bowl, add crushed ice.

Devilish Eggs

Ingredients

  • One dozen hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion or shallot
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Peel eggs.
  2. Cut eggs in half lengthwise and scoop out yolks, placing in a separate bowl.
  3. With a fork, mash yolks and add mustard, mayonnaise, onion/shallot, Tabasco, salt and pepper.
  4. Arrange egg white halves on a serving platter.
  5. Spoon yolk mixture into egg white halves and sprinkle with paprika. (Makes two dozen)

Wormy Apples

Ingredients

  • 6 large apples
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 6 gummy worms

Directions

  1. Core apples, leaving stem ends intact.
  2. Mix raisins and pecans and stuff into cavities of cored apples.
  3. Set apples stems up in a lightly buttered baking pan.
  4. In a 1 to 2-quart saucepan, mix brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon & nutmeg; stir over high heat. until mixture boils. Pour hot syrup around apples.
  5. Bake, uncovered, in 350° F (175° C) oven, basting occasionally with syrup, until apples are tender when pierced and skin begins to crack, about 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Remove apples from oven and cool in pan at least 10 minutes, or let cool to room temperature.
  7. Set each apple in a small bowl and spoon syrup around fruit.
  8. In the top of each apple, cut a hole large enough for one of the candy worms and tuck one end into each apple, leaving most of the worm dangling. (Makes 6)

Severed Finger Cookies

Ingredients

  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 cups butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • almond slivers
  • red cake decorator gel

Directions

  1. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and vanilla
  2. Mix dry ingredients and add to butter mixture; mix well and chill for 1 to 2 hours.
  3. Break off about an inch-sized pieces and roll in hands into a long tube tht will resemble a finger.
  4. Using a butter knife, make three indents to resembe the knuckle. Make a small indent where the "fingernail" (almond) will go.
  5. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 350° F (175° C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly brown around the edges; remove from oven and allow to cool.
  6. When cooloed, put decorator gel on the fingertip to hold the almond sliver (fingernail) in place.
  7. For added effect, squeeze some red gel at the severed end of the finger to resemble blood. (Makes up to 8 dozen cookies)
