How to Make Simple Halloween Party Food

Use these creative, spooky, and fun Halloween inspired recipes this holiday season to add a little "black magic" to the festivities.

Food has become an intregal part of any occasion, and what better holiday to be unique with cooking than Halloween? There are many recipes available inspired by this "spooky" holiday, including cookies, cupcakes, appetizers, snack, and more. Impress the guests at this year's Halloween party with these creative recipe ideas.

Forked Eyeballs

These fun treats, found in Disney's FamilyFun Magazine, are sure to delight friends and family this Halloween holiday! This is an easy recipe that any cook , regardless of experience, could master.

Ingredients:

  • 2 (11oz) bags of white chocolate chips
  • 12 doughnut holes
  • semisweet chocolate chips
  • tube of red decorator frosting

Directions:

  1. Melt the white chocolate chips over low heat. Coat a dozen doughnut holes with the melted white chocolate chips by spearing the doughnuts with a fork, dipping them in the chocolate, and tapping off the excess.
  2. Place a semisweet chocolate chip into each doughnut hole.
  3. With handle sides down, place the forks in a mug so that the chocolate coating can cool and harden.
  4. Using the red decorator frosting, add veins radiating out from the pupils.

Blood and Guts Potatoes

This simple yet gory recipe by Nigella Lawson, produced by The Food Network, will sure to be a hit with children of all ages. There is no going wrong with cheese and potatoes!

Ingredients:

  • 4 baking potatoes
  • 3 balls of fresh mozzarella, diced
  • 2 tablespoons of tomatoe ketchup, plus more to decorate

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Prick the potatoes with a fork and place straight on rack in oven for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending on their size.
  3. Take potatoes out of the oven and allow them to cool. Slice each potatoe in half and scoop out the potato flesh into a bowl, putting the skins aside.
  4. Mix together the diced mozzarella and the potato flesh in a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of ketchup. Spoon this filling back into the potato skins.
  5. On a lined baking sheet, dribble the now filled skins with more ketchup "in a gory, blood-dripping kind of way." Cook for an additional 15 minutes, until cheese is melted and the potatoes are warmed through.

Berry Scary Martini

Serve your adult friends and guests this Halloween inspired beverage which is sure to impress. This recipe by Martha Stewart is "just for grown-up goblins."

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz black vodka
  • 2 oz cherry juice
  • 1 cup ice
  • Garnish - fresh blueberries and raspberries

Directions:

  1. Combine vodka, juice, and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
  2. Pour into martini glass.
  3. Thread fresh fruit on cocktail scewer and place into glass.
  4. Serve immediately.
