Variations of this special holiday punch have been passed down through five generations. Not only is it a delectable drink, it it also filled wth vitamins and minerals.

Preparations for the holidays usually include digging out treasured holiday recipes and selecting the perfect foods and drinks for the variety of get-togethers and parties. However, sometimes too many sweets and too much junk food, during the holidays, leave guests' stomachs begging for a tasty, yet healthy alternative. Making a holiday fruit punch that is both nutritious and delicious offers that choice to guests and takes just a few minutes to prepare. Originally, a secret family recipe, this festive fruit punch, with its endless variations, adds a special touch to any holiday buffet.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounce can frozen grape juice
  • 6 ounce can frozen orange juice
  • 6 ounce can frozen lemonade
  • 6 ounce can frozen limeade
  • 20 ounce can pineapple tidbits
  • 2 bananas
  • 3 apples
  • 2 pears
  • a handful of grapes

Preparation

  1. Scoop the frozen grape juice, orange juice, lemonade and limeade into a large punch bowl. Let the frozen fruit juices stand for ten to fifteen minutes to soften. With a large plastic spoon, stir gently for about a minute to combine the frozen fruit concentrates.
  2. Start adding the fruit, beginning with the 20 ounce can of pineapple tidbits (with its own juice). Again stir gently.
  3. Peel and dice the bananas, apples, and pears. Add these ingredients to the fruit punch, a little at a time, and stir gently. If desired, the fruit can be diced and refrigerated the day before the festivities. To prevent the bananas from turning brown, just dip them in a little lemon juice.
  4. Wash about twenty seedless grapes and drop them around the top of the holiday punch. The resulting punch, filled with delicious fruit, is both sweet and satisfying. The fruit filled punch bowl also adds a colorful, festive touch to the holidays.

To create variations of this holiday punch, add other fruits. Here are a few suggestions:

  • sweet cherries
  • diced oranges
  • diced kiwi
  • blueberries
  • cranberries

To make a sweeter punch, just add about 1/2 cup of sugar. To add even a little more pizzazz to the recipe (for adult parties), add about 1/2 cup of wine or try one of the following additions:

  • champagne
  • vodka
  • rum or coconut rum
  • cold duck

Filled with sweet flavor, as well as a myriad of vitamins and minerals, this holiday fruit punch has been passed down from generation to generation for over seventy years. Its delicious fruity flavor, along with its eye appeal, continue to make this punch extremely popular with guests of all ages. Because of its unique taste, when this punch is served, guests beg for the mouth-watering recipe.
